But hey, I'm done arguing with fanboys. There's no logic behind a fanboy's arguments, it's just fanaticism. I base my opinion on first hand experience with Apple's latest product, and numerous latest handsets running Android. All the fanboys on here say "I used ____ before..." well yeah if you compare a 2 year old handset with a 2 year old OS, sure iOS 4.3 will win, but when you only come out with a handset once a year, 1 month after a product launch there will be better options. Technology changes far too much to come out with ONE mobile phone per year.
Done with this discussion, it's going nowhere.

That comment about two-drive sleds makes me nervous. Apple seems to sometimes sacrifice function for form. Hense the tendency for the smaller notebooks to get REALLY HOT. This is a problem for gamers, because most 3G games just use 100% CPU all of the time, and some Macs (mine for instance) have been known to develop faults as a result of prolongued exposure to heat.
So, here they're going to pack the hard drives in more tightly? Fine for SSDs, but mechanical hard drives are unreliable beasts. Packing them closer is just going to make it harder to cool them properly. And in fact, it appears that most PC makers (Apple is no exception) pay very little attention to hard drive cooling. Why do you think there were so many Time Capsule failures? Apple III all over again. No fans, no airflow, component failure.

cons: what if i want to format the hard drive and restart from scratch? or even just archive and install? what if i completely replace my hard drive? what if i want to sell my mac and get a new one, would i retain the license or would the buyer get it? how would they reinstall the OS after I wipe the hard drive? how long is this going to take to download? will we be able and authorized to burn our own install DVDs from the downloaded software?

I, for one, am glad there wasn't an update to the MacBook Pro.
As for the Mac Pro, I am really impressed with everything except the video card. I haven't got the means to get one anytime soon since I just bought my MBP, but it's a great machine. The internals are really great looking. :cool:

Wow, why all the hatin'? This is what they did before. This is the way things are headed. I see another sub $1000 just like the iBook, that's a given. I'm hoping for a cheaper one, but not expecting it for awhile. Could be months, could be years. But as prices drop, it will happen. It's only a matter of time.

Yes and Bill Gates is expected to release Vista at the same conference. Seriously, all this happening (Mac Pros, iMac Core Duo, new iPod Nanos, iPhone, new MBPs, ect) in one conference is unlikley. Mac Pros are a given, thats all I'm saying (so I dont look stupid when it doesnt happen :p).

Exactly. That's the main reason in my mind this rumour holds any weight.
If anything there are more Verizon customers waiting for the iPhone 5 than those who bought the iPhone 4. If they DON'T release the iPhone 5 this year there will be pissed off Verizon AND AT&T customers.
Verizon customers who waited for the iPhone but didn't want to buy an 'old' phone when a new one was coming out in a few months and AT&T customers who are looking to upgrade.

If you read the article again, it ays the rumor is for laptops. Very doubtful apple will move the desktop line to an ARM processor as there is nothing that competes with the current tech.
For laptops (specifically the air), the move may make sense. I don't see apple moving the whole macbook pro line to ARM. maybe the airs and the regular macbooks.
The short story is that Apple is moving the laptop line, and presumably desktops too, to ARM based chips as soon as possible.
Anyway the main reason why I feel reluctant about this hypothetical (and I stress hypothetical) situation is the potentiality of troubles that would come from transitioning everything again (like others have said).
P.S. Is anyone else slightly concerned with the site's name being "SemiAccurate"? lol It's just a name of course and I'm half joking, but still :D

What are you people doing to scratch your phones so much? I don't use a case with my iPhone 4, carry it in my pocket (sometimes with my car keys) and there's not a noticeable scratch on the front or back.

I really doubt that the MacBook will be updated that quickly. It wouldn't make much sense, but then again we are talking Apple.

Buy a Mac and receive MobileMe free during the limited warranty (and during AppleCare if you purchased that)
Afterwards charge for the use of it or supply a free ad supported model. I'm not saying it would happen, and you correctly pointed out it hasn't

How hard would it be for wifi/app store to be baked into every Mac going forward? That is, if you wipe the machine, turn it on, and the first thing it does (after the logo) is detect Wifi, connect and offer the app store along with basic disc utilities right on the memory chip?

That's crazy - I just found that site recently when searching for a potential hire... Found the dude's address, parents' name, the fact he had a sister, and how much his house was worth. First listing in Google results, too. And I don't even have an account with it. That was the free information...
But keep in mind that the data might be wrong. I typed in my real name and it came up with me . . . but with details oddly wrong. Multiple accounts that could be me, but in each case with wrong data. I clearly have messed up some databases along the way (good).

Wish Apple did something towards resolution independence and not make images bigger and bigger. :confused:
You could argue that when they pump all consumer Mac resolutions up to the limit of human perception, resolution independence becomes sort of moot.
Of course, a fully scalable OS would help accessibility, but for many consumers a retina screen would be an excellent "one size fits all" solution.
